It started 400 million years ago with the collision of the continents. Through tremendous forces the slate was lifted and shifted from the interior of the earth. Today the slate rock rises up out of the Moselle Valley. Reinhards ancestors broke the stones in arduous manual labour, to build walls and terraces.
